Pallet Boxes, Pallets & Mortar Tubs
HERMEQ supplies mortar tubs, plastic pallets and pallet boxes for storing and transporting materials on jobsites, in equipment yards and in warehouses. Most of the range is steel pallet cages and wire mesh containers, many of them zinc-plated or galvanized, with mesh sides that hold awkward loads in place on the truck and in the stack. The mortar tubs are UV-resistant plastic with fork channels, and the plastic pallets are made for years of reuse in racking and clean handling. Our industrial pallet boxes have reinforced sides and smooth interior walls, so they empty, wash out and dry quickly between loads.
Pallet cages, plastic pallet boxes, pallets and mortar tubs
The range divides into containers that enclose a load (pallet cages, wire mesh containers, steel bins, plastic boxes and the crate), platforms that carry it (plastic pallets and mesh storage pallets) and tubs for mortar.
Collapsible wire mesh pallet cages
Collapsible cages are the general-purpose container for parts, boxed goods, tools and surplus material that move between sites, depots and suppliers, and the folding range is rated up to 3,300 lb. For warehouse, retail and staging stock, the collapsible wire mesh pallet cage and the foldable wire mesh pallet cage carry bulky loads of moderate weight. The stackable pallet cage steps up in capacity, and the heavy duty collapsible pallet cage is built for tool stores, return loads and demolition debris. The 3,300 lb collapsible pallet cage has a reinforced base for the heaviest folding loads.
Wire mesh containers with drop gates
A wire mesh container with a drop gate is a rigid welded mesh box on a steel deck, made for heavy components and parts that are picked by hand from a stack over weeks or months. The folding wire mesh container has the same gate and deck and folds down when empty. The stackable folding wire cages come in several footprints with full panel drop fronts, which gives a busy warehouse one container type for loads of different sizes.
Stackable steel bins
Steel bins hold fixings, fittings and small components that would slip through a pallet or a cage, and their cupped feet let them stack without racking. The stackable steel bin has solid sheet sides, while the stackable mesh steel bin has mesh walls, and both come with a choice of front openings. The industrial steel storage bin is a heavier welded box section build with a forklift base, made for yards that store bulk tools, components and site equipment.
Mesh storage pallets
A mesh storage pallet is a steel platform with a mesh base and two mesh sides, built for scaffold tube, couplers and other stock that rolls or slides off a flat pallet.
Lockable forklift crate
The lockable forklift crate is an enclosed steel box with full-width doors and a top opening, made for high-value equipment, test kits and tools that travel between jobs.
Plastic pallet boxes
Plastic pallet boxes are the choice for wet, dirty or hygiene-sensitive loads and for stock that is emptied and washed between uses. The drop front plastic pallet box has a door on a long or short side and stacks when loaded. The custom plastic pallet box is made to order for bulk materials, washable food or manufacturing stock and jobsite spares.
Plastic pallets
Plastic pallets replace wood where a pallet has to be washed, reused for years or run through automated handling, and they resist moisture. The closed deck plastic pallet is sealed top and bottom for pharmaceutical, cleanroom and food supply chains. The five-runner plastic pallet for high racking has an anti-slip deck for high-bay and conveyor systems, and the industrial plastic pallet has a smooth capped deck for general distribution and pooled, returnable loops.
Forklift mortar tubs
Forklift mortar tubs carry mixed mortar from the mixer to the scaffold and hold it at the work face for bricklayers and block layers. Choose the forklift and crane lift mortar tub where a crane serves the scaffold or where tubs stay out in the sun, since it is UV-resistant and stacks for transport. The black forklift mortar tub is made from recyclable HDPE and is handled by forks only, which suits sites where every lift is made by telehandler.
Collapsible or rigid pallet cages
The choice comes down to what happens to the unit once it is empty. A collapsible pallet cage folds to around 8 in high, so a truck that delivered a stack of loaded cages carries the empties back on a small part of its deck, and a yard can store cages for seasonal or project stock flat between jobs. Folding cages also stack when open and loaded, which leaves empty handling and the type of load as the deciding points.
Rigid wire mesh containers and welded steel bins do not fold. Choose them when units stay loaded and stacked for months, when the contents are small heavy parts that need solid walls, or when a picking routine depends on a fixed gate and frame that never need setting up. Because the heaviest folding cage is rated as high as any unit in the range, load alone does not force a rigid choice.
Mortar tubs for masonry, pallet boxes for storage
Masonry and concrete work
A masonry crew needs enough tubs on the scaffold to keep every bricklayer supplied while the next batch is mixed, with a full tub set down on the platform within reach of the work face. Placing concrete by crane is a job for a concrete bucket, which discharges at the pour.
Warehousing and distribution
Warehouses use cages and containers in place of stretch wrap on mixed or loose stock, so items can be picked from a unit and the unit put back without rewrapping a pallet, and mesh walls let stock be counted from the aisle.
Food, pharmaceutical and clean handling
Closed-deck plastic pallets and smooth-walled plastic pallet boxes are the parts of the range to specify for cleanrooms, food plants and medical logistics. Liquids and bulk fluids are a different job and belong in drums and totes.

Load rating and stacking
A stack is limited by its bottom unit, which carries its own contents and every loaded unit above it, so keep to the stack height listed for each product. Most cages and steel bins in the range stack up to four high, and the mesh storage pallets up to six.
Steel mesh, solid steel or plastic
Steel mesh lets a crew see the contents and lets air move through, which keeps damp tools, lumber and textiles from sweating in storage. Solid steel sides contain fixings, fine parts and anything small enough to work through mesh. Plastic suits washdown, wet loads and stock that must not pick up rust or scale from a steel container.
Access from the front or the top
The right opening depends on how the unit is emptied. A half drop gate opens the upper part of one side, so items can be picked by hand while the unit stays in a stack and the lower panel still holds the load. A full panel drop front opens the whole side for bulky items and for unloading at floor level, and the door on the drop front plastic pallet box does the same for washable stock. The forklift crate opens at the front and the top, so heavy equipment can be lifted out from above. Loose material that has to be tipped out needs self-dumping hoppers, which empty from the forks.
Forklift, pallet jack or crane handling
Most units in the range are built for forklift handling through fork channels, a forklift base or open feet, and one size of the stackable folding wire cages comes with forklift guards that keep the tines off the mesh. Lift by crane only the units built for it, which are the crane-lift mortar tub and the forklift crate with its lifting eyes, because slinging a cage or bin by its frame can distort it and drop the load.
Footprint and racking fit
Several cages and plastic pallets in the range measure 47.2 x 39.4 in, close to but not the same as the 48 x 40 in pallet that most racking and pallet jacks are set up for. The difference is less than an inch each way, but it changes how a unit bears on the beams and where the fork openings fall, so check beam depth, any pallet support bars and fork spacing before ordering a fleet.
