Working at Elevation

Working at Elevation is always a significant risk on-site. In 2023/24, OSHA recorded 138 deaths in work-related accidents—and the leading cause was falls from height. There were 50 fatal falls in this period across construction, roofing, farming, and more. HERMEQ is here to help eliminate—or at least reduce—the potential threat while working at height through both collective and personal protection: including a variety of permanent and temporary edge protection and handrail systems, fall arrest systems and accessories, lanyards, and harnesses. We also offer full installation and technical support, giving you complete service from start to finish. All our products are tested and meet applicable US standards to give you peace of mind.

Edge Protection Systems

HERMEQ edge protection systems are temporary guardrail for the open edges of buildings and civil works, tested to meet ANSI and OSHA requirements. The barrier is a mesh panel, the most widely accepted design, and its Z-type profile is compatible with other Z-type systems. Panels are galvanized and then powder coated, and they can be finished in your company colors with corporate branding (minimum order quantities apply). Attachments fix the system to concrete, steel frames, pilings, bridges and other structures. Each barrier is built in a 3-2-2 wire formation with an integrated toe board, which gives protection against a falling worker and against material striking the panel.

Temporary Stairs & Bridges

HERMEQ temporary stairs and bridges give crews safe, stable access between elevated work areas and over obstacles at ground level on the jobsite. The range covers folding steel stairways, modular spiral stair towers that stack to 60.5 ft, pedestrian bridges and crossover stairs for trenches and pipelines, and a crane loading platform for materials. Steps, treads and decks have non-slip surfaces, and every unit is built to be lifted by crane or moved on its handles, so access can move with the work. Contractors use them to connect scaffold decks, structures and floor slabs during construction, and maintenance and industrial teams use them wherever access is needed for a set period.

Crane Lifting Equipment

HERMEQ crane lifting equipment carries heavy loads under control between the ground and the working level on construction, industrial and material-handling sites. Every attachment is built to a stated rated load, and many designs lift from a crane hook or on forklift pockets, so the same equipment works at grade and on upper floors. The range covers concrete buckets, self-dumping and drop bottom hoppers, crane forks, goods and storage cages, personnel and rescue cages, block grabs and curb stone lifters, and the chain hoists, lever hoists and beam clamps used for rigging on jobsites, in warehouses and in mechanical rooms.

Temporary Handrail Systems

HERMEQ temporary handrail systems put edge protection and handrail runs on slab edges, roof edges, excavations and floor openings without any fixings into the structure. The range is built around the SG4 system, in which a galvanized foot carries each post and the posts and rails are joined with standard scaffold fittings. Posts and rails are made from 1.9 in galvanized scaffold tube in high-yield steel, so the same components can be put up, extended and moved from one stage of a job to the next, on construction sites, roofing work and maintenance projects.

Safety Fan Systems

A major factor, especially in city projects is the potential of debris falling from overhead construction sites – therefore the Safety Fan is essential and is becoming a more common site in cities– safety net fans were recently used on ‘Big Ben’ during the refurbishment. After assessing risk, there are the options of the Safety Net Mini, the Safety Net and the Safety Net XL to suit your needs.
